intro message

This is a honest account of my struggle to live as a Christian teen every day. My attempts not to lie to my parents, cheat on tests, and to trust God when I hate–err.. strongly dislike–my current situation. The music that fills my soul, the poems striking my heart. The books I enjoy, and thoughts or questions I wish to share.
I hope that this will not touch you but that it will open my heart and mind. I write these posts to help me think it through, accept the truth, and carry on. So, through Jesus Christ I pray you are touched. ~CMR~

Getting Involved!

~HINT!!! If you are looking for a list of stuff  to do, or you don't want to read a really long entry (I won't be offended, or blame you!), then you should skip all the way down to the bold type!~
So today is January 25!

Exactly one month ago was Christmas 2011. weird. For me, its felt like soooo much longer.
I will be the first to admit it. Being 13, this year for Christmas I would have been very happy with a barbie or something because now is evidently the age that all the adults decide that you should get clothes and candy bars for Christmas. yeah, I get it... Clothes are great! but Christmas morning not having anything to do other then watch younger siblings play with their new toys is not a joy ride. However, I came up with something to do! Play with my old stuff! ;) Hehehe.

Now a month later, I am sooooo bored because I don't have anything new. But every time I think that I have to think about what Jesus would do. AKA about all the kids who don't have toys... yeah, yeah, a lecture about loving others and doing what is right... But maybe... just maybe... that's what we need to hear. In America, life is so easy. We freak out about the littlest things, but really, while they seem so big to us at the moment, you have to take a step back and think, will this matter when I am 20? or 30? If not, then let it go, if yes, then double check your judgement.. cause normally it won't.  I am not here to lecture anyone, but I do want to say that its time (and it has been time for a long time now) for the more fortunate to reach out to to the less. I am starting this page because I want to keep the Christmas spirit flowing. (AKA: the giving of the season) I figured that exactly one month later would be a great time. Here I am going to keep a running list of things that you can do to help someone every day or maybe  some things that are harder to achieve.

~There isn't much here yet, but I will keep updating it!~

LEVEL 1: EASY
  1. Make cookies or a cake for a neighbor or friend. Maybe even take them to someone who is sick at the time. Cookies are an amazing way to brighten up someones day! Really, any pastry is sooo sweet you can't help but love it!
  2. Go to freerice.com and answer vocabulary questions... each question you get right they donate 10 grains of rice to a hungry kid... they add up quick! in 20 minutes I donated 1000 grains of rice...... really cool, really easy way to get involved! :)
LEVEL 2: MEDIUM
  1. Volunteer at your church! or if you don't go to church, if you are a certain age, you can volunteer at hospitals! But don't take your age as an excuse to claim that you can't do anything to help, because you CAN!
  2. Donate to the Ronald McDonald house, or maybe a local project! Or if you want to jump a little higher, Donate to Compasion International! (Link below)
LEVEL 3: HARDER
  1. Go on a mission trip! It doesn't even have to be far! I have gone on mission trips to places only 1 hour away! But it certainly counted - at least, it did in my mind!
