intro message

This is a honest account of my struggle to live as a Christian teen every day. My attempts not to lie to my parents, cheat on tests, and to trust God when I hate–err.. strongly dislike–my current situation. The music that fills my soul, the poems striking my heart. The books I enjoy, and thoughts or questions I wish to share.
I hope that this will not touch you but that it will open my heart and mind. I write these posts to help me think it through, accept the truth, and carry on. So, through Jesus Christ I pray you are touched. ~CMR~

Africa...One Story At A Time

My fabulous mother had the adventure of a lifetime this summer when she visited Burundi, Africa. Her (and the groups goal) was to build houses for a small group of people called the Batwa. This is a shunned group living with nothing and recovering from a massive genocide.

Her stories are eye-opening, inspirational, and occasionally heartbreaking. Read these life-changing stories at jenschatterbox.blogspot.com .

28 Ways to answer the question: What happened at school today?

Summer is ending, therefore school is starting (I know, how dare I bring that horrid subject up!). Everyday, it seems, I am greeted with the familar question of: "How was your day?" And I'll answer it with the familiar responce of: "Fine." Conversation over. Instead of 'fine', wouldn't Mom be surprised if I were to say any of the below???

My Mom is Gifted!

So every once in a while Mom makes these adorable cakes (for birthdays) or cupcakes (for parties). She took a decorating class at Hobby Lobby and loves it. For example, on my birthday I had a glow-in-the-dark theme so my cake glowed under a black light! AMAZING! :D

Anyway, for my bible study tonight she made mummy cupcakes: Check them out! ADORABLE!

How to Look Approachable in School

Opening up to a new school year, I guess it just gets me thinking. I mean... What does it take to get someone totally new to come up to somebody they don't know (or even someone they recognize but just don't know know)and ask for directions? Like, Hey? Where is Mrs Wilson's room? Or do you know where locker 178 is, I can't seem to find it?

Maybe desperation? Anxiety? Total cluelessness? Helplessness? Fear? Or more importantly... How can I (we) seem (visually) like someone who is easy to ask those type of questions? Or seem trustworthy? And by 'seem' I don't mean that we seem nice but then are telling them wrong directions, but instead that when someone in the hallways see us they know that we can be trusted to help them, even if they don't know us? Oh! I know the word I've been looking for! How to make us seem approachable!!

Hmm.. just some thoughtful questions. Until Later, CMR

Mirror, Mirror

Hey! wow! I haven't posted anything for a LONG time! well, a week or so ago I converted from writing songs to writing a poem. This poem is about how I can find billions of things wrong with myself any given moment. But also how I need to look past that and find things that are important. I wrote this because I deal with this junk a lot. Its part of being human, I guess.

anyway.. here is the poem... yes... I wrote all of it!

MIRROR, MIRROR
Mirror mirror on the wall
Let the image I see fall
Let me see what’s underneath
Hidden beside my insecurities
Let me be mended, restored, repaired
Rid me of despair
Even if it strips me bare.
Now whenever I pass by
You’ll see a twinkle in my eye
I’m not afraid to look at you
Or ashamed of what I’ve been through
So, mirror mirror set me free
Mirror mirror look at me
